J.B. "Red" Owens Recreation Complex, Easley

Construction began in the summer of 1997 when contractors and the National Guard began grading the 100 acre site. This is a five field softball complex that has hosted two Big League World Series. There are nature trails, paved walking areas, two playgrounds and a picnic shelter. Permanent grass has been installed on the softball fields as well as the soccer fields in the park area. Fencing, lighting, and other facilities have been added. A new gymnasium is planned for the future when funding is identified. The Complex is on Pope Field Road in Easley. For more information contact the City of Easley Recreation
Department at (864) 855-7933.

Playground of Promise, Pickens

The Playground of Promise is a perfect example of the "volunteer spirit" in Pickens. Funded in part by a local industry, it was the hundreds of volunteers working together who built the playground to give endless hours of enjoyment to all children, residents and visitors alike. This wonderfully designed playground has areas of play to suit all ages with picnic facilities available for public use. From downtown Pickens, take Hwy. 178 North. Drive about half a mile and turn left on Homestead Road. Playground is on the left.
